Biography
VEIL OF MIST has been founded in 2004 in Reims, France by long-time fellow musicians Jean-Baptiste Frichet and Frédéric Carcelle.
The first demo was released in 2006, followed by an EP in 2008 but for many years the band lived the life of underground bands with numerous line-up changes and other obstacles. They nevertheless always stayed active on the live front in France and abroad, and throughout the years they played in France, Belgium,
Germany and The Netherlands.
The band really came to a second life with Amandine Rosselle joining their ranks in 2013, which enabled them to put the final touches to their debut album «Disenchantment » (2016), a collection of tunes that ranges from melodic Rock/Metal to more extreme and dark Metal with a lot of elements in between but never gets too far away from the wistful atmospheres praised by the band.
Then came the EP « The Silent Frontier » released as a split CD with their Norwegian comrades of Ancestral Legacy. For that release, each band came up with unreleased tracks, re-recordings, as well as covers and new songs written together. A very nice and unusual exercise, for sure. But the next step the band was aiming for was the recording of a new full-length.
As the band became a three-piece again by the arrival of covid in March 2020, they decided to move on without searching for new members to get a result as personal as possible. The only addition to the line-up was the German drummer Alex Landenburg (Kamelot, Cyhra, Mekong Delta, ex-Stratovarius, ex-Annihilator…) who provided them with the rock-solid foundation required by the diverse material they composed.
It resulted in "Another End Is Possible", an album that features eight brand new tracks plus two bonus tracks on the limited CD edition and the band worked once more with the Finnish sound engineer Jarno Hänninen of D-Studio who patiently achieved the rich and clear sound the band was after. And the whole recording is also enhanced by the addition of a professional choir recorded in Budapest, Hungary. The end result, compared to the first album, is a giant leap forward. The songs are cohesive but diverse, ranging from bombastic symphonic Metal to very dreamy and dark atmospheres. And with some new twists that display an ever-evolving band, while staying faithful to the melancholic Metal they always wanted to play.
